Holiday Gift Guide ~ Graco’s Glider Elite makes for an AWESOME gift for baby (AND mama!) {Review}

Thank you to Graco for providing me with a Glider Elite, free of charge, for review.  These are my own honest opinions.

HolidayGiftGuide2013My first two babies were not swing babies.  In fact, they both detested the baby swing, which was a huge disappointment for me, as I had friends who talked of amazing things such as peaceful showers and actually eating their dinners while it was hot because their little ones were content in their swings.  I knew not what they spoke of … until recently!  Perhaps it is just my little one’s personality … or maybe it is this swing, but Baby Girl is absolutely in love with the Graco Glider Elite … and so are we!

From Graco’s website: Graco® Glider Elite is a revolutionary gliding swing that soothes with the same gentle motion you use when cuddling and comforting baby in your nursery glider. For your convenience, this innovative gliding swing has a seat that doubles as a bouncer, making it simple to move around the house while keeping baby close-by. A plush, roomy seat with removable infant supports and vibration will keep baby cozy, while music will keep baby entertained. And the option to plug in or use batteries gives you flexibility and saves you money. With the Graco Glider Elite, you have all the features you want in a swing, but with the gliding motion baby loves!

The features that have mattered most to us have been:

  • Plug-in swing ~ Batteries are for the birds.  The fact that I don’t have to run the risk of having a perfectly content baby swinging along happily just for batteries to die and lose all swinging ability … or not to even speak of the overall cost savings with plug-in swings versus battery swings … this feature is a HUGE win in my book.
  • 5-point harness ~ I will admit that when Baby Girl was pretty new I never strapped her into the swing, but now that she is 4-months old and wiggling like crazy, I don’t step away without buckling her in using the 5-point harness.  I love the confidence I can have in her safety when stepping around the corner while she is swinging away.
  • Gliding Motion ~ There is a reason babies love to be rocked in a glider in their rooms; it is comforting!  This swing uses that exact same motion to calm and relax your baby!
  • Vibration in Seat ~ There are two vibration speed settings.  I have never had this setting in a swing, bouncer, chair, etc … so it was new to me … but my daughter LOVES it!
  • Glider Speeds ~ There are SIX different speed settings for this swing, so you are sure to find exactly what works for your baby.  Baby Girl has always been a sucker for setting “4″ on ours.
  • Double Duty ~ The swing seat doubles as a bouncer, giving you flexibility to move around the house while keeping baby comfy and close-by!  Plus, this means less gear overall, which is less clutter!  Speaking of less clutter …
  • FABULOUS size.  The frame design on the Glider Elite uses 40% less space than other leading swings, so it fits easily in any room!  Love, love, LOVE the size of this swing!  It is one of the first things people comment on when they come over.

The only thing I don’t like about this swing are the melodies and nature sounds.  We never use them because they sound so metallic and mechanical, which unfortunately is the case for most baby items.  Here are some additional features of the Graco Glider Elite:

  • In bouncer mode, the convenient carry-handle makes it simple to keep baby by your side
  • Roomy seat combined with plush body support and a three-position recline for baby comfort
  • 10 classic melodies and 5 nature sounds will delight and amuse your little one
  • Timer mode helps extend battery life by keeping glider on only as you need it
  • Removable, light-shielding canopy has two soft toys for baby’s visual stimulation and play

This particular Glider Elite is the Brompton pattern, which I loved from the start.  It is very neutral, making it match the room it is in very easily.  It could also be used with a boy or girl.  The gliding swing can be used for babies from 5.5 to 30 pounds.  The bouncer seat shouldn’t be used with babies over 19 pounds.

Buy It!  You can purchase the Graco Glider Elite nationwide at Target, BuyBuy Baby, Babies R Us, Walmart, Kohl’s and at many, many more stores.  A complete listing can be found here.  MSRP for the Glider Elite is $179.99.

I love how compact this looks. When my kiddo was younger, the swings were rather large and kind of an eyesore. This one is cute.

I think the fact that this product doubles as a bouncer and swing is fantastic! My oldest child loved the swing but my 2nd and 3rd children didn’t, yet they all loved bouncers. Graco is a great company…I love their Graco snugride car seat.

As a first time mom I’m pretty much clueless about baby gear. I love that you showed it from assembly. A lot of items come in so many dang pieces it’s hard to put together. Graco seems to be good at keeping things simple!

I love graco products and looking for a glider for my sister. This definitely looks like a high quality product for my newest niece or nephew.
