The new movie, WICKED, based on the long running, hit Broadway musical, cost 145 million dollars to make. But it’s taken in well over 200 million at box office so far and shows no sign of slowing down. WICKED is a flashy spectacle, an event movie that is sure to please almost everyone who’s seen and enjoyed it on stage. The huge amazingly detailed sets, the exuberant singing and dancing, the inspired direction by Jon Chu who made CRAZY RICH ASIANS, the talent and chemistry of the two lead actors (Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo)—all combine to make a rousing entertainment. Its biggest flaw is that it’s 2 hours and 40 minutes long, and it covers only Act 1 of the play. Many showings have been sold out, so check the theater’s website to see if you need to buy tickets before you go.
