Tako tako, S’mores and upscale comfort food at Banyans in Kailua
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Food Network “Chopped” winner is serving up her unique take on comfort food in Kailua.
Season 58 champion Cidney Wilcox is executive chef of the recently-opened Banyans Craft Kitchen and Lounge. She joined HNN’s Sunrise to talk about the concept.
Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Wilcox has worked in kitchens across the country, including those of A-list celebrities in Atlanta.
She partnered with Banyans owner Joey Gallagher to create a menu that highlights Hawaii ingredients, such as local tako.
Banyans has live music on the weekends and recently launched brunch service.
“We want to continue the vibe we have for dinner to weekend fun days starting with us, mimosa flights, shrimp or oxtail and grits, hot honey chicken and Leonard’s Malasadas, and even a vegan version to match,” she said.
