HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - With Disney’s “Moana 2″ set to hit theatres next Wednesday, HNN Entertainment Reporter Billy V caught up with some of the filmmakers behind the movie who’s there to make sure everything is right.

So what does that mean?

From language to traditional concepts, these filmmakers make sure the Hollywood represents them accurately and fairly. They work closely with cultural practitioners to make sure the stories are told right.

HNN spoke with filmmakers Dana Ledoux Miller, David Derrick Jr., and Jason Hand.

Miller and Derrick Jr. are both of Samoan heritage.

Meanwhile, the live-action Moana hits theatres July 2026.
