400 homes planned in West Oahu under Kalaeloa master development
HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A developer has been selected to build hundreds of homes in West Oahu.
Gentry Homes, Ltd. was selected by Hunt Companies to build 400 homes on Franklin D. Roosevelt Avenue, right behind the Kapolei Costco. The new community is a part of a master planned development in Kalaeloa.
The new residential community will feature 250 multi-family attached units, and 130 single-family detached homes.
The homes won’t be easing Oahu’s severe housing shortage immediately as work on the site isn’t slated to begin until next year, with completion of the first homes planned in 2023. It’s the severe lack of supply that has driven Oahu’s home prices higher than ever before during the pandemic.

Gentry Homes has built more than 14,000 homes statewide, including Waipio Gentry and Ewa by Gentry. Developers say at least 20% of the project’s floor area will be sold under the Hawaii Community Development Authority’s reserved housing program rules.
“We are thrilled to be pioneering the development of quality homes for local families who live and work in our communities. The new homes will be built in a development that will be pedestrian-friendly and green, with ample open space and common recreational areas,” Quentin Machida, President and CEO of Gentry, said.
Steve Colón, President of Hunt Companies’ Development Division in Hawaii added, “We are very pleased to partner with an established,locally-owned homebuilderas we develop a thriving, multifacetedcommunity in Kalaeloa.”
