UH extends head football coach Timmy Chang’s contract through 2026 season

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - University of Hawaii head football coach Timmy Chang received a one-year extension Monday.

The extension lasts through the 2026 season. His contract was set to expire at the end of 2025.

This was a move by acting UH athletics director Lois Manin, who officially took office on the same day.

Chang had one year remaining on his original contract, recently finishing his third year at the helm of the ‘Bows with a 38-30 win over New Mexico.

“Coach Chang has established a foundation of Warrior culture that our football program needed when he came home three years ago,” Lois Manin said in a statement. “Offering him the opportunity to continue to build and recruit to the Braddahhood is paramount for the program. We are excited for the future of Warrior football, especially after what we witnessed Saturday night.”

The terms of the extension was not immediately disclosed.

“I want to thank the University of Hawaii, President Lassner, the Board of Regents, and acting Athletics Director Lois Manin for the opportunity to continue coaching my beloved alma mater,” Chang said in a statement. “The time is now for Hawaii Football! We believe we have the staff, players, and the support from this community to get this team to where we all want it to be, back on top, winning football games, and continuing to make this state proud.”

Chang’s record is 13-25 as head coach without a bowl game appearance.
