DOT releases additional $250M in federal funding to Honolulu’s rail

The federal funding is part of a grant agreement between the DOT and HART.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The U.S. Department of Transportation has released an additional $250 million to the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation for the Skyline rail system, U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) announced on Wednesday.

It follows a release of $125 million in February that was delivered after HART awarded required contracts.

To date, HART has received more than $1.1 billion in federal funding.

More than $365 million is still set to be released upon completion of project milestones.
