FORT COLLINS, Colo. (KKTV/Gray News) - A Baby Jesus figurine stolen from a nativity scene displayed in a town square was anonymously returned with an apology note.

Fort Collins police said that the Baby Jesus figurine was a part of Fort Collins’ Old Town Square Nativity scene. It went missing on Tuesday, and police released a photo of the suspect in hopes of bringing that figurine back home.

“This Grinch tried to ruin Christmas by stealing the Baby Jesus from the Old Town Square nativity scene,” Fort Collins Police Services wrote on Facebook.

On Thursday, the Baby Jesus was anonymously dropped off at Poudre Fire Authority Station #1 along with an apology note.

That note said: “I am really sorry, I made a dumb mistake in the moment. It won’t happen again.”
