(Gray News) - A preschool teacher is dead and multiple others were injured after a multi-car crash outside an elementary school in Texas.

The crash happened on Dec 19 during student pickup following a children’s holiday performance near a school in San Antonio.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, a mother allegedly accelerated into another vehicle in the parking lot, and both vehicles crashed into a play area.

“She, in turn, pushed that other car, and then both cars ended up hitting a fence where on the other side of that fence, several children were playing,” said Sheriff Javier Salazar.

As of result of the accident, 22-year-old Alexia Rosales was pinned under one of the vehicles.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Additionally, five children were hurt in the crash and were rushed to hospitals in varying conditions

Friends and family members said Rosales smile lit up every room and her laughter brought so much joy, according to a GoFundMe page.

“We’re heartbroken. Losing Alexia feels like losing a part of ourselves. Her warmth, kindness, and energy will always stay with us, but the void she leaves behind is immense,” the page said.

Salazar said it appeared that the crash was just a tragic accident and that the mother might have experienced a medical issue.

As of now, the mother has not been charged.
