Driver sought in connection with fatal hit-and-run crash in Makaha

It is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are factors in the crash.

MAKAHA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Makaha.

The crash happened around 10:50 p.m. on Thursday night on Makaha Valley Road.

Officials said an unidentified male pedestrian was walking in the roadway when he was hit by the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The unidentified driver did not stop to render aid, police said.

It is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are factors in the crash.

This is the 49th traffic fatality of 2024 as compared to 54 at the same time in 2023.

The investigation is ongoing.
