HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An overturned semi-truck is blocking the two far right lanes on North Nimitz Highway heading westbound Friday morning.

The 18-wheeler rolled over at Nimitz and Sand Island Access Road around 6:50 a.m.

HFD said the driver self-extricated from the windshield area.

Honolulu EMS was on scene to assess and treat the driver. The extent of his injuries is unclear.

A representative from the company who owns the semi-truck says it’s going to take several cranes to get it off its side.

Drivers are advised to expect delays or use an alternate route such as the H-1 Freeway or Moanalua Freeway.

HPD said it may take the whole day to remove the semi-truck.
