HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Oahu drivers are advised to be prepared and plan ahead as the city begins its project to repair roadways in various areas across Oahu on Monday.

Construction work is expected in the Pearl City, Waialae, Manoa, Aina Haina and Kaneohe areas.

The city said it will last for approximately one year.

Work hours will be from Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., excluding holidays.

This project includes, but is not limited to:

  • Demolition, resurfacing, and reconstruction of asphalt and Portland cement concrete pavement
  • Adjustments to utility manholes
  • Installation of an underdrain
  • Reconstruction of existing concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters
  • Installation of pavement markings and traffic signs.

Portions of the roads undergoing rehabilitation will remain temporarily closed until the new concrete pavement has cured. The city said construction will be carried out in small phases to minimize traffic impacts.

The Contractor, HaRon Construction Inc., will coordinate and manage local area traffic for businesses and residents, including deliveries, trash collection, residents’ access to homes, and emergency services. On-street parking will be prohibited during work hours.

The city said residents in the project areas were notified last week.

Vehicles parked on posted streets will be towed at the owner’s expense.
