Don Quijote to close Waipahu store after 18 years
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - After 18 years, a popular store in Waipahu is closing its doors.
Dec. 31 will be Don Quijote Waipahu’s last day of operation as its ground lease comes to an end.
The store plans to remain stocked through New Year’s Eve, including selling permitted firecrackers.
The in-store pharmacy will remain in operation until the store’s closing. Customers can contact the pharmacy for assistance in transferring their prescriptions to other pharmacy locations.
Don Quijote first opened its doors in Waipahu in 1995 as Daiei. The store was renamed to Don Quijote in 2006 when Pan Pacific International Holdings acquired Daiei.
The company operates two other Don Quijote locations in Honolulu and Pearl City, as well as Times Supermarkets, Big Save Markets, Marukai Hawaii, Tokyo Central Hawaii, DonPen Times, Fujioka’s Wine Times and Shima’s Market.
The company is scheduled to open its first Don Don Donki location in Hawaii in Kapolei in the first quarter of 2025.
