Thank you Walls Need Love for providing me with a decal, free of charge, for review. These are my own honest opinions.
We finally have our kitchen projects almost done, so I can finally share this huge kitchen makeover with you! Our kitchen got the most drastic change in this whole event and we were so excited about it. Stay tuned for more great kitchen reviews, but to start with I have a great review from Walls Need Love!
Above our kitchen sink we had a piece of glass that the builders put in when we bought the house, to keep the wall clean from splashes. For awhile we had family photos taped to the wall behind this glass, and we really loved that, but with our new kitchen decor that just had to go. We wanted the glass gone altogether though and decided a wall decal would be best.
Wall decals are a very simple, usually inexpensive way to update any room in your house. My mom and I wanted a quote above the sink, so we started searching around and found quite a few we liked at Walls Need Love. Walls Need Love has a wide variety of decals that will fit with any room in the house. You even choose the color of your decal. We went with a family quote and found the perfect one. It says Love overflows and joy never ends in a house that’s blessed with family and friends.
This decal retails for $42 for the larger size and $32 for the smaller size. I believe when I picked it out it only came in the larger size, but I’m not sure about that. Ours is 21×36 inches and fills up the area above our sink. Although it is pretty big for that space, it looks great there! We chose chocolate for the color to match the decor we switched to in the kitchen.
It was pretty easy to put up, although we had a light fixture and large faucet in the way. I trimmed around the edges before putting it up, keeping the edge at the top straight. We taped it to the wall with painter’s tape and then peeled the backing paper off. It was a little difficult getting the backing paper off with the light fixture and faucet in the way, but we just went slowly and carefully. We actually pulled it up above the faucet and then carefully slid it back in place.
Once the backing paper was off, we rubbed over the whole decal with a little plastic widget that was provided with the decal, making sure it would stick well on the wall, making sure to get any bubbles out. Then we carefully peeled off the transfer paper. We only had a few spots where the decal tried to come off the wall with the transfer paper, but we just rubbed back over that spot again, or caught the decal as we were peeling and stuck it to the wall. The finished results were amazing and it was the perfect decor for this spot!
We did notice after getting it on the wall that it was missing an apostrophe in “that’s”, and I checked the backing and transfer paper to be sure we did not accidentally peel it off, and we didn’t. Walls Need Love was quick to send me an apostrophe to stick in place, and it fit in perfectly. When getting ready to write this review I actually saw that there is no apostrophe in the stock photo above either, so if you order this decal and are a grammar freak, I recommend emailing them and asking them to include an apostrophe! I was very pleased that they remedied that problem so quickly though and we are very happy with our decal!
