2 Ladies & a Hammer ~ Sherwin-Williams Paint {Review}

Thank you Sherwin-Williams for providing me with paint, free of charge, for review.  These are my own honest opinions.

The last room I wanted a big change in was Teresa’s, Autumn’s, and my bedroom.  We’re sharing a bedroom until Autumn and my brother Daniel go off to college this fall.  Then Teresa will get her own room and I’ll stay in the master bedroom.  I have a Celtic theme in my bedroom with black and purple as the main colors.

We currently do not have matching bedding on our 3 beds, but once Teresa moves to her own room I’ll keep 2 twin beds in my room and get another matching black and purple Celtic bedspread for the other bed and put my matching Celtic curtains in the window.  The walls were a very light tan from when it was my mom’s room.  The bathroom walls were also light tan.  I really wanted purple walls to match my decor.  I was excited when Sherwin-Williams agreed to send me paint for our bedroom and bathroom!

I chose a lighter purple for the bathroom and a darker purple for the bedroom.  The lighter purple we also got for the ceilings, but we ran into some problems painting our popcorn ceiling so that didn’t get done for this event.  Let me show you the before and after photos and then I’ll talk about the paint itself!

Here is our bathroom:

Here is our bedroom:

We used Sherwin-Williams’ Duration Home Interior Acrylic Latex Paint for the walls.

We chose 6816 Dahlia for the bathroom:

And 6817 Gentian for the bedroom:

We got both of these in satin finish.  I actually had paint samples from another brand and Sherwin-Williams had those exact colors in their system, but for the review I wanted actual Sherwin-Williams samples.  They helped me look through their samples and pick out a close match.

The Duration Home paint is designed for high traffic areas and is durable and washable.  It was pretty thick, but it had good coverage with 2 coats of paint and went on smoothly.  The best thing about this paint it doesn’t have a strong smell.  Another great thing is that it only took 1 gallon to paint our bedroom, when normally it takes 1-1/2 gallons.  It really covers well!

We’re really pleased with the Sherwin-Williams Duration Home paint, and the new look in our bedroom and bathroom!

I love the colors for your bathroom and bedroom. I have been wanting to change the wall colors in our house… everything is off-white and boring.

OMG, what a difference! I’ve been thinking about doing away with the REALLY tiresome eggshell color that’s ALL over my house – and you have just pushed me over the fence. Thanks for posting the color codes and the names I want those!!! Hurray, I’m gonna paint!!

I love the 6816 Dahlia for the bathroom, which you choose for the bathroom. Somehow it is both refreshing and soothing at the same time, what a difference it made.

That turned out great. At first glance, it was showing up a purple on my computer but I love the colors of the paint. We have been doing some painting here as well. Always a great clean feeling once it is done.

The walls look lovely and really pull the room together. And paint with a minimal smell sounds amazing!

I love the deep rich colors you chose. I have it stuck in mind to go with neutrals or pastels – I still hear my dad’s voice telling me this! – but darker colors make such an impact on a room. And we’ve learned the hard way not to go with cheap paint. Name brand like this does such a good job.

I love these colors! You did a great job picking out colors! I especially love the Dahlia!

The rooms look beautiful. I have never tried Sherwin Williams paint before but would love too. We all have lung issues here and learning that there wasn’t a lot of paint smell sounds great. I have a bathroom that is in great need of a paint job. Now all I have to do is decide on a color.

Wow, the rooms look great. I love your colors, they really made the rooms stand out.
So great to have such durable paint. We’re going to start painting soon. We usually use a neutral color, but I really want a bright color in my sewing/craft room. Thanks for your review, it helps to know where to buy good paint.

Luv the colors! My fav of favs is lavender, and I’m very partial to these colors. Now that color is really back in style, many people are getting a little more adventurous beyond white & off white! It is fun to see the photos!

I love the color purple as well as SW Duration paint. Those were awesome choices! =)
