The world we live in today is a pretty scary place.

The weather has gotten crazy. The atmosphere is clogged with carcinogens. We go to war over million year old dinosaur goo. We abuse each other. Cancer rates are through the roof. We kill each other over the stupidest stuff. I could really go on and on but I don’t want to depress myself or you.

Drugs have been around since the beginning of time. There was a time when you could buy opium over the counter at the local apothecary. It was called laudanum and it was highly addictive.

They used to make Coca~Cola with cocaine for goodness sake!

One of the scariest things that I could think of is to have one of my children succumb to the world of drug use. There are so many drugs these days. We still have all the “old school” drugs…marijuana, cocaine and heroin. LSD and acid are still making the rounds too. Now we have new “designer” drugs like bath salts and meth. Some of these drugs are even killing our kids the first time they use them! It is terrifying! There are so many ways to get and stay high. So many scary ways.

I’ve heard that Meth is so addictive that the first time you use it…bang…your hooked and this new one they call bath salts! My God in Heaven!! It is literally turning people into flesh-eating zombies. That poor man in Florida who got his nose bitten off by some drug filled crazy…it breaks my heart. Sometimes I just want to pack my kids up and move to some frozen tundra and forget about the greater population all together!!

So…what do we do if we suspect that our spouse, child or best friend is using drugs? We pay attention. We question. We pray right? But how do we know for sure? What do we do if we find a suspicious substance? A pill that doesn’t look like your regular over-the-counter pain reliever. A bag of what your teenager may claim to be oregano for home economics class. Maybe a rolled up dollar bill on the floor in your families bathroom.

Now there is a test available that takes away the confrontation. You test the substance…not the person. No need to swab anybodies mouth or to ask for a urine sample.

When the good people at IDenta contacted me about doing this review I was intrigued. I’ve seen other drug tests at my local pharmacy. You have to pay for the test (of course) and then swab the mouth of the person you suspect then send it off and pay again for analysis and wait for the results. I don’t know about you but I don’t wait very well. I think that waiting for these kind of test results is probably the same as having to wait for oncology reports…soul wrenching.

I am fortunate enough to be able to say that I have never been confronted with drug use in my home. I am doing this for those of you who have. Those of you who are scared to death for your children, your spouses, your family and your friends.

I approached my local law enforcement for help with this review. I thought for sure they would think I was crazy…”You want to do what? You want access to what?” Thankfully our narcotics agent (he asked me not to use his name or the name of the agency) was just as intrigued as I was. We sat down together, I showed him the Touch & Know kit and we talked about what I do here at Ahh~Mazing Reviews. After a few minutes he saw that I wasn’t a nut case and that I was really just trying to give my sponsor and my readers the best possible review that I could. He agreed to help.

He brought out some “evidence” that had already been field tested so he knew, 100%, that we should get a positive result. We tested marijuana and cocaine. The kits themselves only have to use a small amount. You don’t need a lot.

This is the test for marijuana. It is small. you can hold it in one hand. There are no chemicals that you have to come into contact with or measure. Everything is self-contained. The test is two pieces. I took it apart and gave one part to the agent, he put it in the bag and took a sample then, gave it back to me. I inserted it back into its base and followed the easy to follow directions. One the back of the base are 3 chemicals. All I did was press and break the little self-contained vials, shook and timed them exactly like the directions say to do. I know it is hard to see but if you look closely you can see a violet colored liquid at the bottom, in the middle. That is a positive result for marijuana.

The second test is actually for 20 different drugs all in one test. It is for everything other than marijuana and hash. The list it tests is really to long to include. Basically it is for cocaine, meth, crack and even those “designer” drugs.

Again, I took it apart and gave the part that needed to be exposed to the drug to the officer and I followed the directions exactly. In this picture you can see the color change result even better. That purple liquid is a positive result for cocaine.

All in all both tests took less than 10 minutes.

The officer I was working with was very impressed with the ease of use with this kit. He said that his department does currently use a field test that is very cumbersome, and sometimes, difficult to use. This test was easier and quicker. I actually left him the used test. We wanted to show it to his boss.

The officer also wanted me to stress to you, dear reader, that if you do find yourself in this predicament to please seek out your local law enforcement for help. They are here to help you and those you love and cherish. If your child or spouse is using drugs they, your local law enforcement, need to know. They want to help you and the community. Local law enforcement knows that we want to protect the ones we love. We aren’t protecting them if we ignore it. You may have found out that your loved one is “only” smoking pot. You may think that things could be worse and you are thankful that it wasn’t Meth. The chances are though that the person they got the pot from is probably dealing in many, many things. That is what your local police need…to stop the source of trafficking.

I leave you today, dear reader, with this thought…Never give up on those we love and never surrender to addiction!

I think this kit is great and can be used as preventative method against a long journey of drug abuse

  2. Kimberly Schotz says

I like that it is easy to use. I think it could be an important way of gathering much needed information.

  3. JoBeth says

I like that it is so discreet you could be a sneaky mom and they wouldn’t even have to know u tested lol

  4. Jojo Shrader says

This drug test kit is so cool. Parents and teachers today need to be better informed of what is going on with their children. I come from a town where drugs are everywhere and having kits like this readily available would really help fight the drug problem in our area.

  5. Melanie Montgomery says

As someone who has dealt with drug use in my family, (not with children/teens but with adults) this would be nice to have.

  6. jodi leah baird says

i think this would be great if you found something in your home to test it and see what it is.but i would love to see a test where you could just swab at home, maybe you child while sleeping or from sweat and check see how they test

  7. Brenda Elsner says

This would be a great kit to have. I have 2 teenage boys and a preteen boy. As far as I know, they aren’t into anything but I do know that they hang out with boys that do drugs and I worry all the time. This would be great to have incase I ever found anything in their rooms,

  8. j dehaven says

It’s quick and discrete. I don’t want the person I suspect to know I do until I have evidence!

I think it helps trace what type of drugs things are. I don’t think there really is a war on drugs – just filling up jail space – if addicts want to use – let them – why pay for them to have free room and board? If they break other laws, arrest them – but the “war on drugs” is a huge burden the country just cannot bear and it’s not doing anything except creating more criminals

  10. Lily Kwan says

I think this kind of drug test kit sounds very useful. I think this would make it easier to identify people who have drug problems and get them treatment sooner.

  11. Brittney House says

I think it will help out a lot of parents who have children who think they are smarter than everyone and think they can sneak around with drugs. It will help with the war on drugs because getting caught might deter further drug use.
