Holiday Gift Guide ~ Capstone Young Readers ~ DESTRUCTION Series {Review & Giveaway ~ US only}

Thank you Capstone Young Readers for providing me with four books, free of charge, for review. These are my own honest opinions.

HolidayGiftGuide2013

Davey can be a very picky reader sometimes and it can be hard to find books to hold his attention. When he decides an author is his favorite, I get several books by that author so he has some variety, but after awhile he switches to a new favorite author and ignores the old. Since we have been getting several new books for review lately, he has a few new favorites, but these books we received from Capstone Young Readers are what he has been asking for at bedtime every night for the past week!

CapstoneBookWe recently received the Destruction series by Erin Edison, which is a fun series for little boys! Davey is 4 and absolutely loves these books, but they are definitely suitable for younger, and even older, boys as well! Blow It Up! shows how buildings and bridges are knocked down with explosives so that new buildings can be built. Knock It Down! shows how buildings can be knocked down with a wrecking ball so new buildings can be built. Crush It! shows how old junky cars are scrapped and turned into new metal objects. Shred It! shows how tires get damaged and are shredded and recycled to make things like rubber mulch.

To be quite honest, these are topics I never would have thought about teaching to Davey until I received these books! Davey has been fascinated by these books, and the fact that they have flaps to lift, wheels to turn, and tabs to pull out and push in helps hold his attention even more. These books are perfect for a young reader, just learning to sound out words, since there is only about a sentence or two on each page, plus “noise words” like Crash! Crumble! Crack!

If you’re holiday shopping for a little boy, these books are definitely ALL boy and perfect to add to your holiday shopping list! You can buy the Destruction series at Capstone Young Readers for $9.99 per book, or as a set of 4 for $35.99.

One lucky US reader is going to win all four Destruction books plus a hard hat!
