Kailua Town institution Saeng’s sharing Thai favorites for four decades
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Saeng’s Thai Cuisine has been a culinary institution on Oahu’s Windward side for nearly four decades.
The family-owned business is run by husband and wife Tony and Joanne Douangphoumy and their children Eric and Annette.
“My father-in-law opened this restaurant in 1986 and we took over in 1995, so we’ve been serving our customers in Kailua for over 35 years now. Our goal is to share the flavors of Thailand through recipes that have been passed down for generations while using as much fresh and locally sourced ingredients as we can,” Joanne Douangphoumy said.
"We are a family run business and the support of our family and our customers, which some of them do feel like family, has helped us stay open through all these years."
The family joined HNN’s Sunrise to showcase some of their popular dishes, including chicken pad thai, Saeng’s fried chicken, green curry with shrimp, and mango sticky rice.
Saeng’s is located at 315 Hahani St. in Kailua Town next to Kailua Post Office. Hours are Mondays-Saturdays 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and daily from 5-9 p.m.
